Folsom wedge successfully moved

Thursday afternoon, with the help of student volunteers, the Folsom wedge was successfully relocated from the Visitors Center to the weatherport, which will serve as an excavation laboratory. George’s wooden support framework and skid runners worked well, enabling the ca. 1/2 ton block to be removed with minimal stress and no damage. The block, along with a block of Clovis sediment (see the Projects page and the link it provides for more information), have been misted with water, covered with wet sheets, and are enclosed with a humidifier to facilitate their rehydration. All rehydration methods use distilled water.
